KiMAS, Mtwara’s champion for early childhood development, is proud to be at the forefront of the Mtoto Kwanza project! This exciting initiative, funded by the Conrad Hilton Foundation, aims to transform the landscape of early childhood care and education in our region.

We recently had the privilege of introducing ourselves to the Mtwara Regional Administrative Secretary, Abdallah Malela, and received a warm welcome. Together with the regional social welfare officer and a leading children’s rights journalist, we presented our mission to empower caregivers, families, and communities to nurture our youngest stars.

How KiMAS Makes a Difference:

As the coordinating CSO for Mtoto Kwanza in Mtwara, KiMAS plays a crucial role in three key areas:

1. Building Stronger Foundations: We champion capacity building for children stakeholders, equipping them to be vocal advocates and coordinators of effective ECD efforts across regional and local government. Think of us as the megaphone amplifying local voices!
2. Putting Communities First: We believe true change starts at the grassroots. Our focus is on creating wider community awareness, fostering public demand for high-quality ECD services, and ensuring these services are tailored to the specific needs of our communities.
3. Advocating for a Brighter Future: We tirelessly advocate for increased resource allocation towards early childhood development. After all, investing in our children’s early years is investing in a brighter future for all.

Mtoto Kwanza’s Big Goals:

Alongside KiMAS and other dedicated partners, the Mtoto Kwanza project is working towards four overarching objectives:

Empowering the Network: Strengthening TECDEN’s ability to effectively guide and coordinate the entire network of civil society organizations involved in the NMECDP implementation.

Local Champions, Regional Impact: Building the capacity of local civil society organizations to spearhead ECD advocacy and coordination efforts at the regional level, ensuring all levels of government prioritize early childhood development.
Amplifying Voices, Shaping Services: Utilizing local media platforms to amplify community voices and ensure ECD services are truly responsive to local needs and demands.
Investing in our Future: Advocating for increased resource allocation to equip Tanzania with the necessary resources to nurture and celebrate its young ones.
KiMAS is committed to working hand-in-hand with Mtoto Kwanza, regional authorities, and our fellow advocates to make Mtwara a beacon of early childhood development excellence. Together, we can unlock the boundless potential of every child in our region!
